Shell

It can be used to break out from restricted environments by spawning an interactive system shell.

1-) This requires that rview is compiled with Python support. Prepend :py3 for Python 3.

Reverse shell

It can send back a reverse shell to a listening attacker to open a remote network access.

This requires that rview is compiled with Python support. Prepend :py3 for Python 3. Run socat file:`tty`,raw,echo=0 tcp-listen:12345 on the attacker box to receive the shell.

Non-interactive bind shell

It can bind a non-interactive shell to a local port to allow remote network access.

Run nc target.com 12345 on the attacker box to connect to the shell. This requires that rview is compiled with Lua support and that lua-socket is installed.

File upload

It can exfiltrate files on the network.

This requires that rview is compiled with Python support. Prepend :py3 for Python 3. Send local file via “d” parameter of a HTTP POST request. Run an HTTP service on the attacker box to collect the file.

File download

It can download remote files.

This requires that rview is compiled with Python support. Prepend :py3 for Python 3. Fetch a remote file via HTTP GET request.

File write

It writes data to files, it may be used to do privileged writes or write files outside a restricted file system.

File read

It reads data from files, it may be used to do privileged reads or disclose files outside a restricted file system.

Library load

It loads shared libraries that may be used to run code in the binary execution context.

This requires that rview is compiled with Python support. Prepend :py3 for Python 3.

SUID

If the binary has the SUID bit set, it does not drop the elevated privileges and may be abused to access the file system, escalate or maintain privileged access as a SUID backdoor. If it is used to run sh -p, omit the -p argument on systems like Debian (<= Stretch) that allow the default sh shell to run with SUID privileges.

This example creates a local SUID copy of the binary and runs it to maintain elevated privileges. To interact with an existing SUID binary skip the first command and run the program using its original path.

Sudo

If the binary is allowed to run as superuser by sudo, it does not drop the elevated privileges and may be used to access the file system, escalate or maintain privileged access.

Capabilities

If the binary has the Linux CAP_SETUID capability set or it is executed by another binary with the capability set, it can be used as a backdoor to maintain privileged access by manipulating its own process UID.

This requires that rview is compiled with Python support. Prepend :py3 for Python 3.

Limited SUID
